Our Story

Founded in 1936 by Chippewa leader Scott N. Peters, the North American Indian Association of Detroit has evolved to support Native American women in employment and education. Transitioning from the North American Indian Club to its current form in 1972, NAIA has become a cornerstone for social, recreational, and cultural activities for Native Americans in the Detroit area.

Our Impact

NAIA has successfully secured federal funding to provide essential services such as employment training, emergency food assistance, and social services, significantly enhancing the lives of Native Americans in metro Detroit.
