Northern Berkshire EMS

Our Story

Since the late 1970s, Northern Berkshire EMS has been dedicated to serving the community during critical times. Established in 1978 under the leadership of Geoffrey H. Sprague, the ambulance service was formed through the collective efforts of local citizens, businesses, and churches. With a fundraising goal of $35,000, the community rallied together to ensure that emergency medical services were available to those in need. Today, Northern Berkshire EMS continues this legacy of community support and commitment to health and safety.

Impact

In 2019, 90 dedicated staff members responded to over 8,500 emergency requests, providing 24/7 Paramedic Coverage across ten cities and towns, covering over 265 square miles.
