About NormaLeah Ovarian Cancer Initiative

Established in 2008, the NormaLeah Ovarian Cancer Initiative honors the memory of sisters Norma Yecies Shagrin and Leah Yecies Hantman, who lost their lives to ovarian cancer. Founded by their daughters, the organization transitioned to its current name in 2016 to better reflect its mission: enriching lives through early detection education, patient support services, and research funding. The initiative empowers women to recognize the subtle symptoms of ovarian cancer, assess their personal risk, and advocate for proper medical attention.

Impact

NormaLeah Ovarian Cancer Initiative creates hope for families navigating their cancer journey by providing knowledge, advocacy, and a supportive community. Their efforts contribute to reduced incidence and mortality rates of ovarian cancer.
