Our Story

The Seattle Go Center was established in 1995 by renowned Japanese professional Go player Iwamoto Kaoru Sensei. Originally located in the University District, the center now operates from the Phinney Community Center after being evicted from its original property. The organization is actively seeking a permanent location to continue its mission.

Impact

As the only nonprofit organization in North America dedicated to the game of Go, the Seattle Go Center provides a vital space for teaching, playing, and promoting this ancient game within the community.
