Land Preservation

Our Story

The Newtown Forest Association is dedicated to preserving forests, agricultural lands, meadows, watersheds, and other open spaces in Newtown, Connecticut. Established in 1923, it stands as Connecticut’s oldest private land trust, having successfully preserved over 1,400 acres across 76 different parcels. This rich history of community involvement and stewardship continues to thrive, relying on the support of local residents.

Our Impact

With the recent acquisition of Deep Brook Farm, the NFA has added over 60 acres of farmland and upland forest to its protected lands. This ensures public access to recreational areas while maintaining the agricultural heritage of the region.
