Our Story

The land that is now Newton Community Farm has been farmed for over 300 years. Originally settled in the late 1600s, it was purchased in 1917 by the Italian immigrant Angino family. In 2005, the City of Newton acquired the farm, which reflects the rich history of the area, from small-scale New England farming to modern suburban development. Newton Community Farm is dedicated to preserving this cultural landscape while promoting sustainable farming practices.

Impact

In 2024, Newton Community Farm celebrated its 19th year as a thriving working farm, supported by over 100 active volunteers and a committed community of more than 2,500 newsletter readers. The farm engages over 1,500 individuals through educational classes, tours, and volunteer opportunities, while donating produce valued at $16,000 to local food pantries, enhancing food security in the community.
