Our Story
Founded in 2001, Newport Community School (NCS) has been a cornerstone of educational support in Newport County, Rhode Island. In partnership with the United Way of Rhode Island’s Community Schools RI initiative and Newport Public Schools, NCS provides vital out-of-school time programs for secondary grade level students and their families. The introduction of NCS Connects has further enhanced this mission by addressing barriers to learning through improved access to wellness, mental health, and family support services. In 2010, the merger with the Aquidneck Island Adult Learning Center expanded NCS’s reach, offering comprehensive services such as academic assessment, literacy instruction, job readiness skills, and vocational training.
