The Newark Community Street Team (NCST) was founded by Mayor Ras J. Baraka as a community-based violence reduction strategy. Utilizing a trauma-informed approach, NCST employs Outreach Workers and High Risk Interventionists to engage with individuals at the highest risk of violence in Newark's South and West Wards.

Making an Impact

NCST focuses on supporting at-risk youth and young adults aged 14-30, employing mentors who have transformed their own lives. These community leaders provide essential case management and intervention services, helping to heal trauma and reduce violence.
