Our Story
In 1963, President John F. Kennedy signed the Community Mental Health Act, paving the way for Kentucky to establish Community Mental Health Centers in 1964. As the first state to implement this system, Kentucky has been a leader in mental health services. New Vista Behavioral Healthcare Foundation, operational since 1965, now serves nearly 25,000 individuals and families across 17 counties in Central Kentucky. The mission is to develop innovative programs that respond swiftly to the needs of the community, ensuring that everyone has access to essential mental health, substance use, and developmental disability services.
