Our Story

Founded in 1988, the New Teacher Center (NTC) emerged to combat the alarming attrition rate of novice teachers, with 50% leaving within five years. Initially known as the Santa Cruz New Teacher Project, NTC has successfully mentored over 3,000 beginning teachers through its innovative programs. Now, NTC extends its reach nationwide, supporting new educators across the United States.

Impact

NTC's coaching model has proven to enhance teacher retention and improve student learning outcomes significantly. A five-year federal study indicated that students of NTC-supported teachers achieved up to five months of additional learning in reading and math, demonstrating the effectiveness of NTC's approach.
