New Schools for Baton Rouge (NSBR) was founded in 2012 by dedicated community leaders with a mission to ensure that every child in Baton Rouge has access to an excellent education. The organization believes that every child deserves a great school, especially those historically denied access to high-quality education. By breaking down systemic barriers, NSBR empowers educators to meet the unique needs of each child, unlocking their potential and preparing them for a future filled with opportunities.

Impacting Lives Through Educational Equity

Since its inception, NSBR has made significant strides toward educational equity in Baton Rouge. With over 85% of students enrolled in NSBR schools being students of color and more than 95% facing financial hardship, the organization is committed to providing robust educational options. By 2023, NSBR will have launched a total of 35 schools, consistently achieving the highest progress index in the parish, indicating that students are growing at a faster rate than their peers.
