New School of Music Inc

Our Story

The New School of Music was founded in 1982 by Richard and Paula Spencer in Austin, Texas, inspired by community music schools in the northeast. After a brief closure in the late 1980s due to economic challenges, the Spencers relaunched the school as a nonprofit in 2013, dedicated to providing music education to underserved youth.

Impact

Over 10,000 music lessons have been provided to more than 120 underserved youth, enhancing their language, reasoning, teamwork skills, creativity, and academic performance.
