Our Story

Established in 1965, New River Community Action, Inc. is dedicated to serving the Counties of Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, and Pulaski, along with the City of Radford, Virginia. This nonprofit organization was born from President Lyndon Johnson’s Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, focusing on the multifaceted causes of poverty.

Impact

Each year, NRCA serves approximately 9,000 local residents, providing essential services such as food, shelter, and employment assistance. With the help of around 1,000 local volunteers, NRCA improves the lives of vulnerable populations, including the homeless, ex-offenders, and struggling families.
