Our Story

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, leaders in the food community united to enhance access to fresh, healthy food for New Orleanians. This collaboration birthed the New Orleans Food Policy Advisory Committee in 2008, now known as the New Orleans Food Policy Action Council (NOLA FPAC). What began as a volunteer initiative has transformed into a funded organization with multiple programs dedicated to equitable food policies and community engagement.

Our Impact

NOLA FPAC has effectively advocated for improved food access and nutrition policies in New Orleans, spearheading initiatives like the Eat Local NOLA campaign and transforming school food systems. The organization has been pivotal in shaping local food policy and fostering collaboration among community stakeholders.
