New Mexico Wildlife Center

Our Story

Founded in 1986 by Dr. Kathleen Ramsay, the New Mexico Wildlife Center began as a rehabilitation center for injured birds. Over the years, it has expanded its mission to treat all species of wildlife in New Mexico. In 2004, NMWC opened a public facility on a 20-acre site, fostering a deeper connection between people and wildlife through conservation education and rehabilitation.

Impact

Each year, NMWC treats between 650 and 900 injured and orphaned wild animals, representing over 120 species. The organization also educates more than 7,000 individuals annually, promoting wildlife conservation.
