Our Story

The New Mexico Kidney Foundation was established in response to the urgent needs identified by healthcare providers and patients affected by renal disease in the community. In 2015, a dedicated team led by Dr. Fidel Barrantes, Dr. Biju Cherian, and Nurse Practitioner Beth Evans initiated the foundation's formation. With the invaluable support of community members and patients, the foundation received its nonprofit status later that year. Special recognition goes to founding board members Jaclyn Starr, Poly Azar, Felicia C de Vaca, Dr. Richard Goldman, and Mrs. Cheryl Goldman, along with early supporters Gary Nelson and Chad Worthen, who helped lay the groundwork for our mission.

Our Impact

The foundation is committed to providing comprehensive educational resources aimed at preventing kidney disease and raising awareness among individuals at risk.
