Our Story

New Literary Project invests in students, teachers, readers, and authors, inspiring and equipping writers across generations to express their creativity. Established in 2015 in partnership with the University of California, Berkeley, and the Lafayette Library and Learning Center Foundation, this initiative offers free writing workshops for underserved youth, celebrates storytelling through the prestigious Joyce Carol Oates Prize, and supports high school creative writing teachers in pursuing their own projects.

Impact

New Literary Project drives social change by unleashing artistic power in neglected communities. Writers from diverse backgrounds come together to share their stories, fostering understanding and connection.
