Empowering Youth Through Tennis and Education

Founded in 2008, New HYTEs began as a modest after-school program for 10 elementary students from low-income families in New Haven. Spearheaded by the dedicated coaches and players of Yale University's varsity tennis teams, this initiative has blossomed into a vital resource for over 100 economically disadvantaged students annually. The strong partnership with the Yale community, including student and faculty volunteers, has been instrumental in this growth, providing access to state-of-the-art facilities and generous support from Yale’s Office on New Haven Affairs.

New HYTEs is committed to enriching the lives of New Haven’s youth by integrating life skills curriculum and academic support with the health benefits of tennis. As a proud chapter of the National Junior Tennis & Learning program, New HYTEs has received ongoing financial and resource support from the USTA Foundation, which has been crucial to its success.
