Our Story

Founded in 1971 by Bruce Stewart and Jim Newlin, New Garden Friends School began with a vision to create a transformative educational experience rooted in Quaker values. Starting with just 60 students in a church basement, the school has blossomed into a vibrant community that celebrates diversity and inclusivity. Over the years, NGFS has expanded its facilities and programs, including the establishment of an Upper School in 2005, ensuring a nurturing environment for students from preschool through high school.

Impact

New Garden Friends School has made significant strides in promoting inclusivity and social justice. By integrating students from various backgrounds, the school fosters a supportive atmosphere that honors each individual's unique gifts. The commitment to Quaker principles has created a positive educational journey for all students, empowering them to thrive academically and socially.
