Our Story

The New England Rugby Referees Society, originally founded in 1967 as the Boston Rugby Referees Society, has grown from a small group of dedicated referees to a robust organization with over 100 members. Established by pioneers Joe Walsh, Don Morrison, and Bill Rogers, the Society has evolved to cover a larger geographic area, officially becoming the New England Rugby Referees Society in 1971. Incorporated in 1982, this charitable and educational organization is committed to enhancing the quality of rugby officiating across the region.

Our Impact

With a focus on developing referees for Major League Rugby, NIRA, NCR, WPL, NERFU, Club, and High School Rugby, the Society plays a crucial role in the growth of rugby in New England.
