Our Story

In the spring of 1992, thirteen institutional bookstore colleagues from across New England gathered to explore the benefits of collaborative purchasing. This meeting led to the incorporation of the New England Buying Consortium in Massachusetts, aimed at enhancing the financial contributions to educational institutions through strategic vendor partnerships. Initially focused on New England schools, NEBC expanded its membership to include institutions from other states in 1994, reflecting its growing influence and reach.

Our Impact

NEBC has successfully guided member stores in their purchasing decisions, fostering strong relationships with vendor partners. The organization’s support for store attendance at meetings has significantly increased vendor participation and purchase orders, enhancing the financial health of member institutions.
