Founded in 1952, the New Britain Symphony Society has a rich history rooted in community collaboration and a passion for music. The journey began in 1948 when Dr. Etzel Willhoit and fellow educators envisioned a symphony orchestra that would bring the joy of live music to the community. Over the decades, the New Britain Symphony Orchestra (NBSO) has grown from a small ensemble to a celebrated institution, featuring world-renowned artists such as Itzhak Perlman and Benny Goodman.
