Advancing The Art Of Music

About New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra

Founded in 1976, the New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra (NASO) has grown from a small group of six musicians to a vibrant ensemble of over 75 talented players. This diverse orchestra includes professional, semi-professional, and accomplished avocational musicians from various backgrounds, all united by a passion for music. NASO has presented over 150 concerts in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall, providing a platform for outstanding musicians to shine.

Impact of NASO

NASO is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of musical talent. The orchestra has provided invaluable conducting opportunities for young conductors, many of whom have gone on to achieve prominence in the music world. Notable conductors like George Manahan and Alondra de la Parra began their journeys with NASO, as did talented soloists such as pianist Ursula Oppens.
