The roots of Rise & Shine grew from a dark chapter in local history, initiated by concerned citizens responding to racism represented by the KKK. This led to an ongoing community dialogue on racial reconciliation and the establishment of the Rise & Shine after-school program in 1996, focusing on empowering children through education and support.
Since 1996, Rise & Shine has been helping economically disadvantaged and racial minority children learn about the importance of education, their community, and themselves through structured activities and individual coaching.
