Our Story

The Neighborhood Center has been a cornerstone of community support since 1905, originally established as a settlement house to assist immigrants in filing citizenship papers. Over the decades, the Center has evolved to meet the needs of a diverse population, becoming a vital resource for families in Utica, NY. By 1936, it was already providing the first Kindergarten in the area and homemaking classes, reflecting its commitment to education and community development.

Today, the Neighborhood Center serves over 40,000 individuals and families across six counties, offering a comprehensive range of outreach, preventative, developmental, and therapeutic services.
