Our Story

In February 2017, a dedicated group of seven neighbors came together to transform their community. They established the Navy Yard Garden Association, a volunteer organization committed to restoring the waterfront gardens of the Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston. With a vision to revitalize two gardens by June 17, 2017, in time for the Tall Ships event, they rallied support through a letter-writing campaign. Local businesses, neighbors, and community organizations contributed generously, allowing the gardens to flourish and welcome visitors in the summer of 2017. As the organization evolved, it was renamed Navy Yard Garden & Art, Inc. in February 2022, reflecting its broader mission to enhance public spaces through art and community engagement.

Impact

The Navy Yard Garden & Art, Inc. has made significant strides in revitalizing public open spaces within the Charlestown Navy Yard. The restoration of waterfront gardens and the introduction of public art installations have not only beautified the area but also fostered community engagement.
