Our Story

Native Roots Farm Foundation’s journey began over a century ago when William and Bertha Mae, members of the Nanticoke Indian community, purchased a farm in Milton, Delaware. Despite the challenges faced by people of color in land ownership, their farm thrived, producing a variety of fruits and vegetables. Today, as urban development encroaches on the land, the mission to preserve open spaces and celebrate Indigenous relationships with nature has never been more critical.

Our Impact

Since 2020, Native Roots Farm Foundation has engaged over 275,000 individuals through programs that highlight native plants, Indigenous ecological knowledge, and sustainability practices.
