Native American Food Sovereignty Alliance
EIN: 46-4578553 · Flagstaff, AZ
Our Story
The Native American Food Sovereignty Alliance (NAFSA) emerged from a vision during a Taos County Economic Development Corporation grant from Oxfam America in 2005. This initiative brought together grassroots Native food activists from 13 tribes, fostering collaboration in agriculture, seed saving, and food systems. The collective efforts led to the first seed sovereignty declaration and a comprehensive Food Sovereignty Declaration with a Call to Action. Officially convened in 2012 and incorporated as a 501c3 nonprofit in 2014, NAFSA continues to build networks and empower communities.
