Increasing The Number Of Culturally Responsible Black Engineers
Promoting Public Awareness Of Engineering Opportunities For Minorities
Developing Technical And Professional Skills Of Members

Our Story

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) was founded in 1975 by a group of engineering students at Purdue University, known as the 'Chicago Six.' The Austin Professionals Chapter, established in 1990, aims to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically and succeed professionally. By building relationships within the community and partnering with organizations, NSBE AP supports local students through pre-college initiative programs.

Impact

NSBE AP has significantly impacted local students by encouraging and advising youth in their pursuit of engineering and science careers. This initiative has led to an increase in the number of students studying these fields at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
