Our Story

The National Indian Education Association was established in 1969 by Native educators to foster a national dialogue on Native education. For over 50 years, NIEA has hosted an annual convention, creating a collaborative platform aimed at enhancing schools and the education of Native children.

Impact

NIEA is dedicated to advocating for improved educational opportunities for Native students, ensuring they receive equitable and quality education. Programs like the Tribal Communities in School model and the National Educator Initiative address the unique challenges faced by Native students and educators.
