Our Story

In the early days of Great Pyrenees rescue, efforts were often limited to local areas, leaving many dogs in dire situations. Joan Fremo, a passionate advocate in Florida, recognized the plight of neglected Southern Pyrs and founded the Pyr Angel Rescue Network. This initiative sparked a movement, leading to the establishment of the National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) in 2006. NGPR coordinates the rescue and relocation of these majestic dogs from high-kill shelters in the South to loving homes in the Northeast, ensuring that hundreds of Pyrs find their forever families each year.

Impact

NGPR has successfully rescued and relocated hundreds of Great Pyrenees dogs, significantly reducing the number facing euthanasia and improving their quality of life through dedicated rehabilitation and adoption efforts.
