Our Story
In 2017, San Francisco Firefighter Greg Collaco and Fire Commissioner Joe Alioto Veronese climbed the 1192 steps of 555 California Street to raise awareness for first responder mental health. This initiative led to the establishment of the National First Responders Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to bridging the gap in funding for emergency support. With the backing of the International Association of Firefighters Local 798 and FirefighterAid, NFRF has expanded its reach across the nation, funding vital mental health initiatives for police, fire, and dispatch agencies.
Our Impact
The National First Responders Fund serves as a crucial financial resource for programs addressing Post Traumatic Stress Injuries (PTSI) among first responders. By connecting private donors with the financial needs of these everyday heroes, NFRF plays a pivotal role in promoting awareness and recovery.
