Our Story
The National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) was founded in 1965 to enhance educational practices and uphold high professional standards in theatre education. Initially an affiliate of the American Theatre Association, NAST became an independent accrediting body in 1980, gaining recognition from the U.S. Department of Education in 1982. NAST is dedicated to supporting institutions and individuals in theatre-related fields by establishing national standards for degrees and credentials.
