Our Story
The National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC) was established in 2001 to support over 1,200 Free Health Clinics dedicated to serving the uninsured and working poor across America. Initially operated by a volunteer board, the organization has evolved significantly, hiring its first Executive Director in 2007 and expanding its staff and budget. In 2011, the NAFC broadened its mission to include charitable clinics that provide low-cost services, emphasizing the critical role these clinics play in the healthcare system, especially following the Affordable Care Act.
