Our Story

The National AIDS Memorial was conceived in 1988 by a dedicated group of San Francisco residents impacted by the AIDS epidemic. They envisioned a serene space for memorial services and remembrance, leading to the establishment of The Grove in Golden Gate Park. This living memorial honors those who have died and those who have supported them, evolving into a national memorial designated by legislation in 1996.

Impact

Through various programs like the AIDS Memorial Quilt and scholarships, the National AIDS Memorial ensures that the stories of those lost to AIDS are remembered and shared with future generations.
