The National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) was founded in 1971 by a group of African-American architects who recognized the need for an organization dedicated to the development and advancement of minority architects. Born from the Civil Rights Movement, NOMA aims to minimize the effects of racism in the architecture profession and advocate for equitable opportunities for minority architects.
NOMA has made significant strides in advocating for minority architects and promoting diversity within the profession. Through various programs and initiatives, NOMA has successfully educated and inspired minority youth to pursue careers in architecture, increasing representation in the field.
