Founded in 1988 by Mandy and William Hofmeister, the Nashville Sailing Foundation began as 'Miss Mandy’s Sailing Camp'. What started as parents teaching kids evolved into a structured camp with certified teen counselors. In 2003, the Nashville Sailing Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to support this initiative, becoming a formal affiliate of the Harbor Island Yacht Club in 2012.
The Nashville Sailing Foundation has created a youth sailing program that not only teaches essential sailing skills but also nurtures leadership among teens who serve as counselors. Many participants have advanced to compete at the collegiate level and coach in other sailing programs.
