Our Story

The Nashua River Watershed Association was founded in 1969, driven by the belief that every individual can make a difference. This conviction led to the remarkable clean-up of one of the nation’s most polluted rivers, transforming it into an internationally recognized success story. Today, NRWA serves as a regional leader in natural resource protection and environmental education across 32 watershed communities in north central Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.

Our Impact

NRWA actively protects rivers and streams, preserves greenways and forests, restores native habitats, and enhances climate resilience, significantly improving the ecological health of the Nashua River watershed.
