Our Story
The Potters’ Studio, founded in 1971 by Jules Seitz in Berkeley, has been a beacon of creativity and community service. Originally providing classes to teenagers from the Blind Skills Center, it evolved into a collaborative space when a group of potters formed the NARA Corporation in 1977. Under the leadership of Maija Williams for nearly three decades, the studio thrived on principles of equality and community participation. In 2021, it proudly transitioned to a non-profit organization, celebrating 50 years of enriching lives through ceramics.
