Our Story
The Naperville Chorus has been enriching the western suburbs of Chicago with the power of song since 1976. With a vibrant ensemble of over 100 voices, the chorus performs a diverse repertoire that spans classical masterpieces by renowned composers such as Bach, Handel, and Mozart, to contemporary works by Prokofiev and Rutter. The chorus also embraces unique styles, including reggae-inspired Christmas carols and Broadway show tunes, showcasing the versatility and talent of its members.
The roots of the Naperville Chorus trace back over a century to the Oratorio Society, a collaboration between students and townspeople. This tradition evolved through the decades, culminating in the formation of the Naperville Community Chorus in 1976, which has since become a cornerstone of the local arts scene. Under the direction of Professor Jeordano Martínez, the chorus flourished, expanding its reach and repertoire, and engaging in collaborations with esteemed groups like the DuPage Symphony Orchestra and the Chicago Bar Association Orchestra.
In 2023, the chorus welcomed a new director, Reid Taylor, who is committed to further expanding the chorus's repertoire and fostering new collaborations. The Naperville Chorus continues to thrive, dedicated to the advancement of choral music and the appreciation of good music in the community.
