Our Story
My Stealthy Freedom began as a simple photograph shared by political journalist Masih Alinejad, capturing her freedom to run without a hijab in London. This image sparked a powerful movement among women in Iran, who expressed their longing for the same freedom. In May 2014, the campaign emerged on Facebook, evolving into the largest civil disobedience initiative against compulsory hijab laws in the Islamic Republic. With over 7 million followers, predominantly from Iran, My Stealthy Freedom has launched impactful initiatives like My Forbidden Voice, Men in Hijab, and the White Wednesdays campaign, where women wear white to protest oppressive laws.
