Our Story
MusicLink Foundation began in 1992 as a program of the Virginia Music Teachers Association, aiming to connect students in need with professional music instructors willing to offer low-cost lessons. Initially focused on the DC metropolitan area, the program identified students through school music teachers, using eligibility for free or reduced lunch as a guideline for financial need. After six successful years, MusicLink expanded nationally in 1998 with support from the Music Teachers National Association Foundation. In 2001, it became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, allowing for greater funding opportunities and broader outreach.
