Our Story

Founded in 2009 by students at Columbia University, Musical Mentors Collaborative began as a small group of volunteer musicians dedicated to teaching free private lessons to elementary school students. Since incorporating as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in 2011, MMC has expanded its reach by establishing chapters at various universities and adapting to challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic.

Impact

Since its inception, MMC has collectively taught nearly 8,000 private lessons to hundreds of students, providing free music instruction to under-resourced communities across the United States.
