Our Story

Founded in 2016 by Alina Bloomgarden, Music on the Inside (MOTI) was inspired by the life-changing impact of music education on incarcerated individuals, as exemplified by Louis Armstrong. MOTI connects youth and adults affected by incarceration with professional musicians, fostering hope and healing through the power of music.

Impact

With a commitment to rehabilitation, MOTI has delivered music education to over 300 justice-involved individuals and reached more than 800 incarcerated people through concerts. The organization has facilitated over 30 mentorships for returning citizens and hosted over 80 concerts, showcasing the transformative power of music.
