Transforming Lives Through Music
Founded in 1989, Music in World Cultures (MIWC) began its journey in Indonesia, where missionaries sought assistance in training a young church on the island of Taliabo. The new believers had created original indigenous Christian hymns, yet lacked a written musical language to preserve their worship. MIWC stepped in, recording, transcribing, and publishing these hymns, while also developing a musical notation system tailored for the tribe. This initial success sparked a vision to expand MIWC's mission, leading to educational programs aimed at training missionaries, pastors, and church leaders for cross-cultural ministry.
Over the years, MIWC has launched impactful projects across various countries, including Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Georgia, Lithuania, Germany, Jamaica, Nepal, and Zambia. Each initiative focuses on equipping local churches with the tools and knowledge to use music as a strategic outreach tool, fostering a deeper understanding of worship and community engagement.
Making a Lasting Impact
MIWC believes that music can bridge cultural gaps and enhance the expression of faith. By providing biblical instruction in worship and music education, MIWC helps believers connect with their communities in meaningful ways. Non-Christians are drawn to the message of Christ through the music and teachings shared by local believers, creating opportunities for outreach and fellowship.
