Founded in 1995, the Music in the Schools Foundation (MIS) is dedicated to inspiring children and youth to embrace music as a vital part of their education. Operating in East Palo Alto, East Menlo Park, and Redwood City, MIS provides comprehensive music instruction at no cost to students or school districts. This initiative ensures that every child has the opportunity to experience the joy of music, regardless of their background.

With a focus on mentorship, MIS has successfully supported Ravenswood Middle School band directors, enhancing their ability to teach strings and build a robust orchestra program. The foundation also offers after-school programs, including string ensembles and international folk dancing, providing students with additional performance opportunities and fostering a love for music.
