Our Story
MUSIC AT THE MISSION emerged from a passionate desire within the community to create a vibrant cultural center for performing arts. Founded by pianist Aileen Chanco in 2005, the initiative began with a successful concert that showcased both classical chamber music and solo performances. This enthusiastic response led to the formation of the Adorno Ensemble, marking the beginning of a new era in chamber music for the 21st century.
With a vision to engage the next generation, Aileen introduced educational pre-concert talks and outreach performances in schools and senior facilities. The concert experience was further enriched by “Meet and Greet the Artist Receptions,” fostering closer interactions between audiences and artists. Over the years, MUSIC AT THE MISSION has partnered with local organizations, expanding its reach and impact within the Tri-Cities arts scene while attracting audiences from across the Bay Area.
As it approaches its 19th season in 2023-2024, MUSIC AT THE MISSION continues to present acclaimed artists and new works, including compositions from diverse cultural backgrounds, ensuring a rich and varied programming that stimulates interest in classical music.
