Our Story
Founded in 1970 by Agnes and Edgar Law Land, the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts (METC) began with a personal collection of 18th and 19th-century artifacts. This collection, which has grown to over 7,000 objects, showcases the lives of early immigrants in New Jersey. The Lands, who raised their family in Madison, NJ, were passionate about history and education, leading them to create a space that preserves the working lives of those who came before us. Each artifact tells a story, connecting visitors to the rich tapestry of New Jersey's past.
