Our Story

Movement Generation was founded in the early 2000s in the unceded Lisjan Ohlone territory, now known as the San Francisco Bay Area. This grassroots initiative emerged from a planning committee of dedicated organizers and educators, responding to the ecological crisis exacerbated by events like Hurricane Katrina. The Justice & Ecology Project was born from this collective effort, focusing on the intersection of ecological justice and the needs of working-class communities of color.

Our Impact

Movement Generation inspires transformative action towards the liberation and restoration of land, labor, and culture. By building political and economic power, the organization aims to shift from an extractive economy to a regenerative one.
