About Movement Alliance Project

For over 15 years, Movement Alliance Project has united organizations in Philadelphia around a shared vision of change. Founded in 2005 as the Media Mobilizing Project, the initiative began with a focus on independent media, bringing together community media makers and organizers to document and share untold stories. Over the years, the project has evolved, addressing structural inequities in corporate communications and media systems, and taking on major players like Comcast.

As relationships with various organizations strengthened, Movement Alliance Project expanded its role to provide fiscal sponsorship to emerging groups within the movement ecosystem. This effort mobilizes resources to ensure that philanthropy invests in impactful projects and strategies. In 2020, the organization rebranded to better reflect its core strengths, and after a pivotal restructuring in 2021, it is now focused on building movement infrastructure in Philadelphia.
